Environmental Health & Safety

The Division of Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) partners with 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÆØÁÏ to promote safety services that support the clinical, teaching, and research missions on campus. 

We are responsible for a campus-wide effort to ensure 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÆØÁÏ complies with local, state, and federal health and safety rules and regulations to provide a safe environment for work, study, research, and patient care.  For more on our commitment to our institution, please see the . Emergencies

Environmental Health & Safety responds to emergencies on the 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÆØÁÏ campus involving hazardous chemical, biological and radioactive materials, fires, and threats to the environment. If there is a workplace injury, EHS needs to be notified. To report an emergency during normal business hours call: 706-721-2663.

Report a Workplace Injury

Assess

Workplace injuries can happen at any time. The key to handling these incidents is to remain calm, assess the situation, and not put yourself in danger.

Please refer to the 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÆØÁÏ Critical Event Guide for instructions on how to respond to specific injuries.

Notify

Environmental Health & Safety needs to be notified of any and all injuries that happen:

  • In a laboratory or animal facility.
  • Involving biological materials or chemicals anywhere on campus.

Report

51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÆØÁÏ Human Resources (HR) needs to be notified of all workplace injuries within 24 hours. 

  • Incidents requiring medical attention - Employee Report of Accident/Injury Form.
  • Incidents not require medical attention - Worker's Compensation Incident-Only Form.
