The Research Committee (RC) acts as the faculty voice in shared governance as it applies to research at AU. Specific duties of the committee include:

1. Reviews AU research policies and makes recommendations to the AUFS.
2. Advises the Provost and EVP for Research on processes for research-related resources, including research space allocation.
3. Reviews and advises on processes for intramural grant awards affecting 2 or more colleges.
4. Recommends to the AUFS faculty representatives to the AU Research Institute (AURI): one from among its membership and one each from two different campuses. Nominated faculty should be active researchers.
5. Gives voice to faculty-identified research-related issues affecting two or more colleges.
6. Coordinates with existing AU research-oriented offices to promote inter-collegial research.

Membership

Each college will have one to two representatives on the committee and are appointed by the Chairs Council. Members are appointed for a one-year term and are eligible for reappointment but may serve no longer than six uninterrupted years (Article III, III, 4.4.2.).
