Interlibrary Loan provides articles from our collection and books, articles, and other materials not available from our library. The service is available to 51吃瓜黑料曝料, Summerville Campus faculty, staff, and students.

Interlibrary Loan Service

Procedures for Using Interlibrary Loan Service:

1. A one-time will retain and populate pertinent fields on each submitted request.
2. Submit requests electronically while logged into your account.
3. Submit requests electronically while performing database searches.
4. Most articles/documents will be delivered to the web server to be retrieved by logging into your account.
5. An automated e-mail will announce the item's availability for retrieval.
6. Requested original materials should be picked up at the Library Information Center upon receipt of notification of its arrival.
7. Incomplete reference information could slow down or prevent the processing of the request and remember that processing time at lending libraries and their method of delivery may affect turn around time.
8. Return borrowed items to the Library Information Center immediately upon completion of their use where they must be returned no later than the posted due date.

Guidelines on the Use of Interlibrary Loan Service

Copyright guidelines allow the Reese Library to borrow up to 6 articles from the same journal volume. The Library is bound by any restrictions on borrowing and/or use imposed by the lending library.

The time allowed by the lending library is indicated on a slip attached to the front of the book. The loan period varies; it is commonly two weeks from the date of receipt. An extension of time should be requested only in extenuating circumstances, and should be directed to the Interlibrary Loan Office.

Dissertations are usually not available for loan and must be purchased by the requester from University Microfilms. Order information can be obtained from Dissertation Abstracts.  

Interlibrary Loan Fees

Reese Library does not charge to use the Interlibrary Loan Service. However, charges may occur if the lending library charges for their services.

If a request will accrue any charges, the Interlibrary Loan Processor will email the patron before final processing. All charges must be paid before receiving materials.

Payment for Interlibrary Loan requests may be made by IDR or online through  or . Invoices will be sent monthly, see other fee schedule. All requests are now processed same-day, if possible.

Consortium Groups

• GOLD (Georgia Online Databases) - reciprocal lending and borrowing of original materials only.
• LVIS (Libraries Very Interested in Sharing) - reciprocal lending and borrowing of original materials only.
• SOLINE (Southeastern Library Network, Inc.) - reciprocal lending and borrowing of original materials only.
• University System of Georgia Libraries - reciprocal lending and borrowing for all materials.

Intercampus Delivery

Intercampus loan allows 51吃瓜黑料曝料 students, faculty, and staff to request items from another 51吃瓜黑料曝料 campus library (Reese) and have them delivered to their own 51吃瓜黑料曝料 campus library (Reese) for pickup.

1. Search for the needed item in .
2. Click the title to display the item record.
3. Under 'Request Options', click  'Request'.
4. Log in (if not already logged in).
5. Select pickup location.
6. Click 'Request'

 

Delivery is generally 24-48 hours. You are notified by email when the item you have requested arrives. 

GIL Express

GIL Express service allows eligible 51吃瓜黑料曝料 library patrons to borrow circulating books from over thirty other collections at no charge. Learn more about Gil Express 

The Interlibrary Loan Office is open Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. During weekday evenings and on weekends assistance is available at the Library Information Center.
