Overview

Educational activities are tailored to provide resources for every type of learner. Our institution's state-of-the-art simulation center is utilized from day one of training. As they progress, the residents' weekly simulation sessions enable them to manage real crises with confidence.

Educational Opportunities

  • Anesthesiology grand rounds | Mondays 7am - 8am
  • Resident didactic sessions | Mondays 6am - 7am and Tuesdays & Thursdays 4pm - 5pm
  • Simulation sessions and OSCEs  | Tuesdays 2pm - 4pm
  • Monthly mortality and morbidity conferences | Mondays 7am - 8am
  • Monthly Journal club and resident-driven M&M
  • Mock oral board sessions | 3-4 times a year on Mondays and Thursdays
  • Ultrasound workshops with a dedicated ultrasound curriculum
  • Wellness education lectures
  • Board review courses
  • Keywords sessions
  • Anesthesia buzzwords for intraoperative teaching
  • Subspecialty educational didactic series - OB, Pediatrics, ICU, CT, Acute and Chronic Pain
  • Substance abuse education
  • Financial, leadership and LEAN training
  • Special didactic lectures – Business of anesthesia, research in anesthesia, anesthesia contracts, medicolegal issues, supervising others, anesthesia informatics

There are specific learning objectives for each main OR or subspecialty rotation. Each resident receives a copy of the objectives at the beginning of the program. The department provides multiple online training resources to supplement the regular didactics.

All these efforts have resulted in excellent performance by our graduates on the ABA BASIC and ADVANCED exams and outstanding career placements.
