Ultrasound Fellowship

The Ultrasound Fellowship Program at the Medical College of Georgia at 51吃瓜黑料曝料 accepts board eligible graduates. Fellows develop hands-on ultrasound skills, and they learn how to handle the administrative duties that are involved with running an emergency ultrasound program.

Fellows have both clinical and teaching responsibilities in the department. Upon completion of the program, the fellow will be able to obtain RDMS certification, be able to competently run an emergency ultrasound program, and be able to instruct other physicians in ultrasound techniques.

Ultrasound fellows have the following responsibilities:

  • Function as an attending physician in the Emergency Department 8.5 shifts per month (on average)
  • 5 dedicated ultrasound scanning shifts with credentialed faculty per month
  • Attendance at the monthly ultrasound meeting
  • Attendance at a monthly tape review meeting
  • Participation in resident ultrasound lectures throughout the year
  • Active participation in a research project
  • Attendance at the 2-day ultrasound course for residents and medical students held each July

Additional fellowship opportunities include:

  • Teaching ultrasound courses to EMTs, paramedics, and nurses
  • Involvement in the medical student ultrasound elective
  • Participation as part of medical coverage for major sporting events
  • Various opportunities for participation in international ultrasound projects
  • Qualified for RDMS certification at the end of the fellowship

Fellows receive a generous compensation package, including a competitive salary, CME salary, paid vacation (4 weeks) and CME time (1 week), Mac laptop computer for use during the fellowship, two ultrasound texts, full benefits (including health, homeowners, and auto insurance), and ACEP membership.

Ultrasound Fellowship Curriculum

Application Process

One fellow is accepted per academic year (beginning in July). Applications are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the year until the position is filled. Interviews are granted upon receipt and review of the applications. There is no formal application form, but you will need to submit a CV, cover letter, and letters of recommendation.
