Kathryn Humes, MD was appointed Associate Program Director of the 51吃瓜黑料曝料 Internal Medicine Residency in 2022. She joined the Division of Hospital Medicine in 2021 as an Academic Hospitalist after moving from Washington, D.C. She enjoys bedside teaching on rounds and is passionate about residency autonomy and feedback. She is also very involved in Quality Improvement initiatives in the Residency Program and hospital-wide, and serves as Chair of the Hospital Medicine Morbidity & Mortality Committee and works with the Patient Safety and Quality Office to run hospital Root Cause Analyses (RCA's). She also serves as a member of the Clinical Competency Committee (CCC) for the Residency Program.

Dr. Humes is originally from central Ohio and still a proud Midwesterner. She is a graduate of Wake Forest University, where she earned her degree in Psychology, with minors in Mathematics and Chemistry. She went on to Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine for her medical degree and completed her Internal Medicine residency training at George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C. After residency, she served as Chief Resident and then joined the faculty at GW as an Academic Hospitalist.

Dr. Humes is very interested in helping residents feel valued and empowered to be the best doctors they can be. She hopes to continue to work with residents and other faculty to teach, mentor, and improve the quality of care we provide to our patients at the 51吃瓜黑料曝料 Medical Center.

She currently lives in Evans, Georgia with her husband, chocolate lab, and 2 small children.
