Giving

As the flagship public medical school in Georgia, the Medical College of Georgia is dedicated to improving the health of all Georgians. The Office of Student Affairs strongly believes that giving back to the community and future health care providers can help improve health outcomes for all of us. In line with this belief, we offer a variety of ways for students, alumni and community members to get involved and give back to the medical and local communities.

Volunteering

There are many ways to volunteer your time to help others! If you are a practicing physician, perhaps you would be interested in becoming a Clinical Mentor for SEEP students aspiring to enter the health care field. If you are a medical student seeking ways to directly improve health in the local community, consider volunteering in one of the student run clinics or learn more about health disparities by taking the Health Equity and Access Leaders (HEAL) elective. Alternatively, join one of the many student groups and national organizations that run service projects, mentor local students, or provide essential services. Explore your options by searching the list of  on campus or by contacting our office. Our students also help run a number of free clinics to serve those in the local area who are uninsured and are 200% below the federal poverty level. These clinics include: Asian Clinic (1st Tuesday of each month), Women's Clinic (2nd & 4th Tuesday of each month), Clinica Latina (1st & 3rd Wednesday of each month), Equality Clinic (2nd & 4th Wednesday of each month) and 8th Street Clinic (each Monday). Don't forget that first and second year medical students have 10 required hours of volunteer work each semester, to be logged on Noble Hour. If you have an idea that you don鈥檛 see represented, please feel free to contact us.

Give

Interested in supporting our efforts to grow and diversify the physician workforce? Help us keep the pipeline to health professional careers strong by donating to the SEEP Endowment Fund, which will help underwrite the cost of admitting more students to these essential pipeline programs and provide scholarships to attract and retain the best and brightest underrepresented minority students. The SEEP Endowment Fund is a true investment in the future that will benefit generations of students to come as well as our state.
