What You'll Study
In the Mathematics program, you鈥檒l take a wide range of math classes culminating in a capstone project focusing on either undergraduate research or mathematics from a teaching perspective.
Experience-based Education
The Euclidean Society is a student organization that provides opportunities for undergraduates
to explore careers and pathways in mathematics.
Students are encouraged to engage in undergraduate research, find mentors through
informal means, or take advantage of CURS. In any case, Mathematics faculty are always
willing to work with mathematics majors, mentoring as they find their way forward
to a career of further education
Whether you鈥檙e an undergraduate or graduate student, you鈥檒l have opportunities to create your own research projects or work with faculty to tackle some of the world鈥檚 most complex and pressing challenges.
A new, state-of-the-art building with 22 teaching labs, a tutoring center and a top floor dedicated to research is located on the Health Sciences Campus, maximizing educational and research opportunities.
The College of Science and Mathematics鈥 living learning community helps incoming freshmen thrive during that critical first year of college by offering a supportive network of like-minded students and plenty of engagement opportunities.
A tutoring center specifically for science and math students is located on the Health Sciences Campus, with similar help also offered at the Academic Success Center on the Summerville Campus.
Your Future
Graduates from the Mathematics program can pursue careers including actuaries, systems analysts, statisticians and economists, or they can continue their education in graduate or professional programs like those in the mathematical sciences, medical school or law school.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median salary for actuaries is $105,900 per year, with growth projected to increase by 24% over the next decade.
A new building in the heart of the Health Sciences Campus puts Mathematics students in the middle of the university鈥檚 research enterprise, maximizing opportunities for internships and mentorships.
A full range of student support services exist to make sure that students have the opportunity to find assistance, advice or mentorship.
As Georgia鈥檚 only Health Sciences Center of Excellence, students are on a campus with graduate programs in health care fields and research for those interested in continuing their academic journey.
