Secondary Teacher Certification

Do you dream of sharing your love for music or world languages with the next generation? Our Secondary Teacher Certification program allows you to combine your subject-matter expertise with the skills needed to become a highly effective educator in grades 6-12.

Integrate Subject Mastery with Pedagogical Skills:

  • Complete an undergraduate curriculum that mirrors your subject degree, but with a broader content focus, ensuring a solid foundation in your chosen field.
  • Gain specialized knowledge in teaching methodologies, curriculum development, and classroom management tailored to music or world language instruction.

Gain Real-World Classroom Experience:

  • After meeting core requirements and being admitted into the teacher education program, you will take pedagogy and curriculum courses leading to Georgia certification.
  • Your final semester will be dedicated to student teaching in a local high school, providing invaluable hands-on experience and preparing you for the realities of the classroom.

Application Deadlines

In order for an individual to be considered the online application and all materials must be received on or before these deadlines.

Fall Semester

  • June 2nd

Spring Semester

  • December 1st

Admission Requirements

Interested students complete the undergraduate curriculum, with similar requirements as the subject degree, but choosing courses broader in content. After completing the core requirements, interested students must be admitted into the teacher education program. Admitted students will then take the pedagogy and curriculum courses that lead towards Georgia certification. The final semester will be devoted to student teaching in a local high school.

License Disclosure Statement

Federal Regulation 34 CFR 668.43 (a) (5) (v) and 34 CFR 66.43 (c) require disclosure by all educational institutions regarding educational requirements for programs leading to professional licensure or certification.  Please carefully review the information provided in the program's disclosure statement for the BA in World Languages.
