Housing and Residence Life recognizes that college students learn both in and out of the classroom. We actively collaborate with our academic partners and other student success partners to complement the classroom experience.
Through Living Learning Communities (LLCs), we offer students a dynamic residential experience consisting of specialized programming, interactions with faculty and staff, and a supportive community that focuses on student success.
The LLCs provide students in specific majors or interest areas with outstanding out-of-class co-curricular and residential experiences. From these experiences, students receive additional faculty/staff interaction and collaboration with a strong peer group鈥攖hat is, students who share academic interests and career goals.
Students within the community are placed on a common floor with staff members who have been specially selected to work with the residential learning community. Additionally, faculty work together with the residence hall staff to use the facility as a setting for co-curricular and social programming based on the content of the community's major/interest area.
Jaguar Jumpstart is a learning community focused on freshman success. Study skills, information literacy, tutoring, and special programs such as speakers, workshops, community service projects and socials are offered exclusively to the Jaguar Jumpstart community.
The JAGByte LLC is a dynamic residential experience for incoming freshmen majoring in Computer Science, Cyber Operations, Cyber Security, Cyber Security Engineering, and Information Technology. This LLC provides an environment for students to become leaders in their field by introducing opportunities for personal development, academic achievement, community engagement, and professional development.
The Honors Program invites academically motivated and high-potential learners to apply to join our community! As an honors student, you will receive focused advising and early registration privileges so that you can take small classes populated by fellow honors students and taught by some of our best professors. You will also gain 24/7 access to a study and social space in the Honors home - the Quad Wall Building. Students with a cumulative, unweighted high school GPA of 3.50 or higher, regardless of standardized test scores, will be considered for membership.
The Community Leadership & Engagement Living Learning Community (CLE-LLC) at 51吃瓜黑料曝料 University is an innovative residential program designed for students passionate about positively impacting their communities. This program combines academic learning with real-world experiences to cultivate the next generation of community leaders and change-makers.
ROTC, Reserve Officer's Training Corps, is a program of military instruction that takes place on campus. The origin of our Military Instruction in a civilian college dates back to The Academy of Richmond County in 1783. Army ROTC is one of the best leadership courses in the country and is part of your college curriculum. Living together, during classes, and with training, you will learn first-hand what it takes to lead others, motivate groups, and how to conduct missions as an Officer in the Army. Upon graduation from Army ROTC, you will earn the bar of a Second Lieutenant and become a leader for life.

How much does an LLC cost? Are there any additional requirements?
There is no additional cost for a Living Learning Community. However, some LLCs require students to register for specific classes, class sections, or outside of the classroom activities; please refer to the individual LLC pages for additional requirements.
What happens if I am not selected for an LLC?
Students not selected for an LLC, whether incoming first-year or upperclass, have the opportunity to continue general room selection with all other students.
Do I have to live on campus to participate in an LLC?
Yes! Students must live on campus to participate in an LLC. Only students who have signed a housing contract will be considered for LLC selection.
May I participate in an LLC if I am a professional scholar, student athlete, or honors student?
No. Students who are part of a special population will have events and programming specialized to them that could interfere with the LLC.
Can I be roommates with someone who is not participating in an LLC?
No. Students in an LLC will be assigned roommates with other LLC students.
Do LLCs go through Roommate and Room Selection?
No. As part of a Living Learning Community, you will be placed into a room that is part of that community to maximize program benefits and allow your coordinator to organize specific events just for your LLC.
